My dad gave me Omaha Steaks for Christmas. (Great gift, Dad!) Guess who is having filet mignon for lunch today?!?!?

Filing a complaint and making a change
I've had it. I'm officially annoyed with the lunch options available in my building and surrounding area. You'd think that being downtown anywhere would guarantee some cute cafe or cheap eatery besides the street vendors, which now charge $3 for a hot dog - come on! That's definitely not the case here. It's just a bunch of crowded food courts, overpriced delis, and local chains that just don't offer the healthy affordable diet I want to have.
The ticker today was ordering Chinese food. I should have known it wasn't going to be a good experience - I don't even like Chinese food. I wanted a pile of veggies so I went with veggies and tofu. First of all, it took 15 minutes to get it, which has little explanation considering the prepared buffet behind the counter - give me that ladle and I'll do it myself! And the food was terribly disappointing. My envisioned pile of lush veggies was was a pile of cabbage with only 2 tiny sprigs of broccoli and a couple carrot strings. The most bothersome part for me is that it was $8.50. Too bad they don't have a return policy!
This was just one experience of many like it. I'm tired of overpriced, greasy, unsatisfying lunches.
I declare that it's time to get back to basics and start packing my lunch again. PBJs, super salads, left-overs (uh, they're going to have to come from somewhere so I guess I'll start cookin) - here we come! I am making a goal to pack my lunch every day next week. I'll report back at the end of next week.
If you have any suggestions, lunch ideas, easy recipes, or similar stories to share, please leave a comment.

A few highlights from the past couple of months
I have done some really really cool things over the past couple months that I've been meaning to make posts on. Here are a few photos of the highlights.
