The weatherman says it's supposed to snow this weekend so we had to take advantage of the beautiful fall day today. We went for a hike in the Boulder green space that is near our house. It's official - I love where we live. And I really love these boys.

Lots of growing and going!
The past couple weeks have been busy and fun. Clark is doing all sorts of new thing. He's tried a couple solids. He loved avocados and didn't care for apple sauce. It was probably a little sour for him. At least that's what the look on his face said! He can sit up steadily on his own for quite a but of time now, and he can stand with only a little help for balance. He's rearin' to go during tummy time. He holds his body up on his arms and legs and rocks back and forth like he's about to crawl. It's so cute.
This past week Clark and I have been visiting my sister, Wendy, and her family in Northern California. Today Wendy is nine + months pregnant and her due date was the 25th.
This baby has spoiled all of our plans (welcome to motherhood!). I came here last Monday to help take care of their first little one, Genevieve, when Wendy and Adam go to the hospital for the delivery. Genevieve came two days before her due date so Wendy and I were sure this was the perfect timing for my trip. However, I leave tomorrow and unless there is a birthday party in the night tonight, Clark and I won't get to meet the little man. Bummer! Bigger bummer for Wendy who is so done with being pregnant. She is beautiful and is being awesome nonetheless.
So instead of having a baby, we've done all sorts of fun stuff to stay busy and get out of the house. We ate Prego Pizza at Skipolini's Pizza in Walnut Creek. The pizza is loaded with toppings and is claimed to be able to induce labor. So far it's only caused heart burn! We went to Joan's Farm in Livermore to check out the pumpkin patch. We went to story time at the library and to In 'n Out Burger for lunch. We ran errands and went for walks. We took Genevieve and Clark to the Trunk or Treat at church. Wendy made a fabulous 'Rella' costume for G that she had to wear at the ball, of course. And we met up with Ben's cousin, Amy, and her baby, Hazel, at Baker Beach where we saw the Golden Gate Bridge, pretty waves, seals, doggies, sand and nudists (from afar).
More than anything, I've enjoyed being with Wendy and seeing a bit if her day to day life. But Clark and I are ready to get back home. We miss Ben!

Clark's newest trick
He never wants to sit. It's standing or up in arms. His latest development is to stand on his own with the help of a box or something just his size for balance.

Six months!
Clark turned 6 months old on the 10th! It's crazy how fast time flies. I never imagined how much having a baby would redefine love for me. It's hard to describe, but it's almost a palpable feeling. It's like my heart is beating outside of my body now and it's the best feeling in the world!
This boy is loads of fun! He loves playing with anything that is black, metal, shiny, or for big people - things like keys, keyboards, a toothbrush, phones, pots, kitchen utensils, plastic bags, boxes, lids, purse straps; you get the point. He is really strong and always wants to stand up. He's so close to crawling; I'm sure he'll take off sooner than later, but it wouldn't surprise me if he walks first. He rarely sits still or even sits for that matter. He's a little comedian and makes funny faces and noises to get mommy and daddy to laugh. He likes going on walks and being outside. He giggles when we push him on the swing in the park. He loves stuffed animals and tries to talk to them and eat their eyeballs. He responds really well to classical music and his lullaby CD is the only thing that works in the car. He likes to set with Ben at the piano and bang on the keys.
If he's ever fussy it's because he's tired, hungry or needs a new diaper (like most babies). He takes two to three 45 minute naps a day and has a bad habit of only wanting mom to put his Binky in his mouth when he stirs. Otherwise he's generally a happy little guy. And we love him more than the moon and the sky! I feel so lucky to be his mom!

Lap baby class
Today we went to a lap baby class at the Boulder Library. Clark loves the songs and stories. He also loves seeing other babies and playing with toys. I enjoyed learning a little about early literacy and language development. I also liked chatting with other moms after the class.

Update
A lot has happened since my last post. I just put the blogger app on my phone so I think blogging just got easier!
Our most recent news is that we are back in Colorado. We loved living in Utah for the summer; I felt like it was a gift to be close to family for a few months. I'll write a more lengthy post when I have some time to share the highlights of the summer.
For now, here are a few recent pics of Clark. Where did six months go? He's a big boy (75% on weight and 65% on height). He's almost crawling and he talks a lot. People tend to think he looks like Ben. I'm ok with that because I think Ben is handsome! I also see some of me in him when I get past the brown eyes, tan skin and dark hair. :) I just love this boy!

Catching Up
See Clark Grow:
Clark's growing amazes me. I swear, sometimes I can see him grow. His little body is expanding in all directions at an incredibly fast rate. I wouldn't expect less from a two month old. The changes are subtle, but if I blink twice they become extreme. And I'm his mom. People who don't see him all day like I do tell me he's exploding (in a good way). I have loved every minute of it. Well, except those minutes when I'm completely exhausted and he's fussy or crying and won't be consoled. (Yes, my perfect baby has those moments.)
For the most part, he is happy, always kicking or moving, and bright eyed. He's very aware of his surroundings and he knows when I'm around or not. He smiles easily and makes the cutest cooing sounds ever. I can't describe how much I love him!
Here's some pics to show you what I mean (in no particular order):

The last time I remember witnessing a solar eclipse was when I was in 5th grade. My teacher poked holes in some paper and told us to hold it up to the sun so that the light will shine through producing a pin hole image of the sun. I didn't understand that I wasn't supposed to look through the pin holes. I remember being frustrated because I couldn't tell if anything was happening to the sun at all.
I LOVED spending that time with Wendy and her sweet baby Genevieve. She helped me brave getting out with a one month old, and we went to Thanksgiving Point and explored like kids. We also went to the splash pad at the Gateway mall.
The wedding was magical! The setting, the flowers, the decorations, the cake and the cakes, and best of all the gathering of family was perfect. I marked it as one of the happiest days of my life - my whole family in one place... that just doesn't happen often.
I love Libby. She is perfect for my brother. I am grateful that they found each other and am grateful to have her and her sweet boy, Hayden, as part of our family.
Anyway, when we moved into our last apartment, we signed a lease for only 7 months, which would put us there until one month after Clark was born. Then we would move to Lake Shore, UT for the summer where we could live with Ben's parents and be close to family.
I hate moving. Packing up our apartment with a one month old baby was no fun. Luckily, we didn't really settle in much and most of our stuff was still in boxes in the garage. And we had a lot of help - Ben's brother came and my Aunt Pam was a saint. She held Clark for hours so I could pack and she cleaned our kitchen.
Clark was a trooper. He slept in my Moby Wrap for hours while I packed, and when it came time to get in the car and go, he slept almost the entire drive (8 hours). He only woke up to eat and get a diaper change a couple times. I was proud of him!
It's been so good to be here in Lake Shore (south end of Utah Lake near Spanish Fork). Ben's parent's are great and have been so accommodating to us. And it's been fun to be around for family events and to catch up with old friends.
Ben loves Utah and I can understand why. He grew up on a ranch and it's beautiful here. And he loves all the outdoor recreation opportunities - they have horses, boats for running rivers, gear for camping and climbing and access to all the great places that Utah offers. Also, his family is here and some of my family is too. It's all around a great place to be. We would love to live here for longer than just the summer. But Nutrislice will be in the Denver area so we're headed back there at the end of the summer.
I was a little unsure how it would be to have a visitor just three weeks after Clark arrived, but I think that I needed it more than anything. It was refreshing to spend time with one of my best girlfriends. Having a baby was such a life changing event for me that it just felt good to be with someone who has known me for a long time. Thanks for making the visit, Wendy!
I
can't believe I didn't get a better photo of Grandma with Clark.

Our Litte Addition!
He's a pro at being a baby. He likes to eat, be held, snuggle, sleep (sometimes he doesn't like to sleep), poop, listen to static noise (his favorite radio station is the one that makes a constant shushing sound), and ride in the car.
